Our agency held its first film-festival-inspired AI challenge and the main theme centered around the inevitable failures we creatives encounter when generating work with AI .
The Assignment: create a movie trailer and a poster to accompany it, and mostly use the agency’s proprietary AI tool to create it. I wanted an action trailer with a bit of humor (in the form of a couple scenes featuring those strange promp results we’re all too familiar with). The idea was a sort of military ops team - shown in various environments, lots of explosions and action, and a few laughs.
This is the final design for the movie poster - I generated a variety of iterations. After selecting this option, I added the title and made other refinements to incorporate some visuals from the more humorous trailer scenes.
I lifted the two main characters from my chosen poster and utilized them to create other key visuals to be used throughout the trailer.
I wanted a dramatic opening scene - something to really captivate the viewer, so I generated visuals in a rugged winter mountain environment. After narrowing down to a couple shots that resonated with me, I was able to bring them to life with some AI-generated motion.
Leveraging some visual sections from other poster concepts that were generated, I created more action scenes - to really pump up the explosiveness throughout.
I brought the generated scenes into Adobe Express to edit the final trailer & added some short copy to make transitions, and get a smile.
By utilizing some of the more “strange” results that were generated in the various AI models, I achieved an action-packed parody that features some high-adrenaline action alongside some quirky AI outputs.
